Our tip: How about a cake in a jar? Special advantage of mason jars: You don''t have to eat the cake immediately after preparation, and it can be stored for up to two weeks with the lid closed.
Bulk-goods shops: Mason jars for take away
Do you own an bulk-goods shop? Some customers bring their containers with them, while others buy them at the store. New customers in particular need some time to find the right container. You can sell the jars to your customers in different sizes to take away and bring back, so there are options for every need.
Bars and cafés: Mason jars as classic beverage glasses
Mason jars are thick, solidly made and durable. This makes them the ideal little helpers for everyday use in restaurants. Whether it’s a cold drink or hot drink: Mason jars can handle different temperatures very well. Hot spiced teas with a cinnamon stick or orange slices look particularly appealing. You can also serve homemade lemonades in style.
Twist-off lid: Screw or twist, that’s the question.
What is a twist-off jar? And how are they different from screw-top jars? The exact difference lies in this question: Screw or twist?
Screw-top jars have a continuous thread and the lid is screwed on with several turns. Twist-off lids, on the other hand, don’t have a continuous thread. Instead, there are small projections made of metal (lugs) on the lid. When you close the lid, the lugs fasten to the threads of the glass container. When you unscrew the lid again, a short movement is enough to open the jar.
Machine filling with twist-off jars
Both types are suitable for preserving for private use: Twist-off jars and screw-top jars. The great advantage of twist-off jars is that they can also be used for machine filling. The machines are precisely designed to twist the lugs of the lid onto the threads as far as they will go. You can of course also do this yourself by hand. When you put the lid on right, your jams and sauces will be airtight and have a longer shelf life.
Did you know? That familiar “hissing” sound when opening a twist-off lid is an audible sign that the glass is vacuum sealed.
