Emissions information for your orders

In the Greenbox emissions portal, you can view the calculated greenhouse gas emissions of your orders. The portal shows which emissions have been allocated to the ordered items and quantities within the defined system boundaries.

Why should we reduce CO₂?

Human activities, especially the burning of coal, oil and natural gas, increase the concentration of CO₂ and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This intensifies the greenhouse effect and the global average temperature rises. Human-made climate change is already affecting ecosystems, human health and water and food supplies today. Biodiversity and forest ecosystems are also affected. In addition, the oceans absorb part of the CO₂ released, which lowers the pH of seawater. To limit further warming and the associated risks, global greenhouse gas emissions must be reduced significantly.

What does the emissions portal show?

The portal shows the calculated greenhouse gas emissions of your Greenbox orders. It is based on the ordered items and quantities, the defined system boundaries and life cycle stages, and the available emissions data. Depending on data availability, product-specific information or average values from suitable databases such as Ecoinvent are used. The values are therefore not a measurement of the emissions actually caused and do not represent a complete personal or corporate carbon footprint.

How can the results be used?

You can compare the calculated values of different orders and time periods and understand the emissions allocated to them by calculation. Differences can arise, among other things, from updated emission factors, new data sources or changes to the calculation method. The evaluation is not a certificate and confirms neither climate neutrality nor any compensation or reduction of emissions. Independently of this, Greenbox provides financial support to external climate protection projects. These contributions are not offset against the emissions shown. The emissions portal is available free of charge to registered customers.
