From palm leaf to disposable tableware
The plantations from where the raw materials of our palm leaf tableware originate are not cultivated for this purpose. In India, areca palms are primarily cultivated because of their small fruits called betel nuts. Since there is almost no interest in betel nuts far away from home, no rainforests need to be cut down to make room for large palm plantations. During its growth, the areca palm loses its leaves several times a year. Normally, these leaves decompose on the ground or they are burned. During dry season, the leaves can also be collected in order to process them further.

The water that is used to wash the palm leaves is collected and then used for the irrigation of plantations. This does not only protect the environment and but also valuable resources.
