We have noticed that many firms do not provide any proof relating to the “environmental friendliness”, “Fair Trade” or “social responsibility” of their products on their websites even though they advertise these facts. A little risky since we live at a time where many companies try to land uninformed customers by the use of keywords, for instance “the products are eco-friendly, FairTrade and have been produced under social conditions”.

We, on the other hand, do not want to confuse you as a customer but confirm your confidence. We set great value on a transparent and open communication with regard to our products and under which conditions they are produced. As a result, we have decided to invest money in international certificates in order to provide you with official confirmations of our product’s positive characteristics.

Palm leaf certification according to EN/DIN13432

The Bionatic GmbH & CO. KG has ordered an examination of the palm leaf tableware for the suitability for an industrial composting facility. The examination was conducted by an accredited test laboratory for several months and the tableware was certified according to the DIN13432.

Palm leaf certification according to the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI)

We place great emphasis on social and safe working conditions within the production facilities of our international palm leaf partner in India. To ensure that these conditions do not change to the negative, we visit our partner regularly. The personal visits also contribute to a closer and more trusting relationship between our partner and us. In order to convince you of the social and fair working conditions as well, we have arranged an examination and certification of our partner’s palm leaf production facility according to the strict Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) which is accepted worldwide. Our palm leaf products were positively certified according to BSCI norms and the compliance is regularly controlled by re-audits of an independent, accredited institution.

BSCI is a global initiative that stands up for the improvement of working conditions in multi-level supply and production chains of companies. In order to ensure the compliance with all regulations, BSCI arranges recurrent examinations of the whole supply chain. In this context, the compliance of social values and principles such as occupational safety discrimination, environmental protection, fair wages, no child labour etc. is checked.

The 11 most important social principles are recorded in the BSCI Code of Conduct. This code shall protect working rights and is based on international labor standards such as the United Nations (UN) Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work as well as guidelines for multinational enterprises of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Each participating company and its business partners commit to implement these basic principles in their entire supply chain. This usually happens within a step-by-step process.
